This is a mindset that has helped me tremendously throughout the last few years both in becoming a healthier person and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I think it’s important because this attitude focuses on the successes of effort, the struggle and accomplishment of putting in the hard work every day. The willingness to recognize areas where you want to be better and the determination to work on them is something worthy of praise in my book!
Personally this is something that has been especially influential in my running. I don’t ever say I had a “bad run” because any run, any time where I got up, went out, and worked hard, is an accomplishment. There are absolutely runs that are better than others, runs that are great and runs where I can improve, but I honor the dedication to achieving my running goals regardless of how “good” or “bad” that day might have been.

What Are Peer Health Educators & Advocates (PEAs)?

The Peer Health Educator and Advocate Program is an all volunteer service-learning group at Sweet Briar College. Peer Health Educators and Advocates are women from divers backgrounds, who are student leaders from all different majors. What they have in common are these characteristics:

Peer Health Educators and Advocates partner with campus health professionals to gain hands on experience in leadership, group facilitation, public speaking, peer-to-peer information sharing, outreach, and health specialty areas. Peer Health Educators and Advocates strive to increase the “health literacy” of Sweet Briar College’s campus by educating students on a number of different topics, including:
